Decorating isn’t about adding the ‘right’ things to your space but personalizing those things that not only look good but work best for you and for your lifestyle.

Several weeks ago I told you about a custom potrack that I designed for a client. This time around the customization is also kitchen related.

A laminated stripe freshens a kitchen spot.

Since messy art projects are a staple of this family’s life, finding a durable, affordable, and attractive fabric for the kitchen was no easy task. Laminating a simple cotton fabric (in this case a bright stripe) was a simple and cost effective solution and livened up this potentially dark space.

Laminate fabric on kitchen corner banquette by J. Latter Design.

I have used this treatment on several projects, including my own kitchen banquette, and I can’t tell you how life-changing it really is. Paints, pudding, pasta wipe up in an instant, and I don’t stress about leaving the kids at the table.

So the next time you’re wondering which pattern or color will be most forgiving in your most demanding spaces, consider lamination to make it your own.
