Say what you want about the neon trend (I’m still on board) but I have noticed an internal inkling for some faded hues. Lately, I’ve noticed a lot of faded fluorescents and I gotta say I am loving them. Just yesterday was the opening of  the hotly anticipated OKL Artisanal Sale with Karen Kimmel. I even emailed Karen to tell her that her instagram people were knocking it out the park. I was super excited to see what goods she had in store for us.

This is the picture that really struck a chord with me, along with the bright to fade lariats and bracelets.

I started digging through my files to see when I started leaning (back) toward these lighter hues. And what I came up with were the images of Ochre’s founders’ home in House Beautiful. The combination of the washed wood walls, the pale upholstery and the saturated throw were love at first sight. I remember thinking how restful this space felt to me at the time.

A few weeks ago, I discovered a new textile line that was hitting on the same trend – colors that look like faded versions of their former selves.

Then today, I noticed it in the Heath Ceramic glazes. Most significantly (around here), I recently re-painted my kitchen lighter and bought some linen to make shades. The color? Faded rose. Dare I say this hue exists somewhere between peach (hideous) and mauve (more hideous), but I am in love. I love the feeling this color evokes, sort of a timeworn faded out terracotta. Pictures to come, I promise.

What are your color longings these days? Are you mixing bright with pale? Still into white + bright? Give me a holler in the comments.
