Currently in LA, a fancy design conference called The La Cienega Design Quarter Legends of La Cienega is underway. While it’s fun to see the showrooms all dolled up for magazine editors and design bloggers and attend an amazing variety of panel discussions and presentations, I miss the day to day.
As big-time as we are in LA, so much of our lives (and our style) is laid back. Sure, there is glamour – it is Hollywood after all, but I love the underdressed realness that Los Angeles offers. Yep, I said realness.
We are not all botox and fillers. Many people are simply working to pursue their dreams, one meeting at a time, one unconventional work week at a time. There is a palpable sense of forging our own paths out here, of having left behind the conventional 9-5 world and steady paychecks.
I am one of those pioneers. And while I love the visitors and all of the hooplah that comes to my neighborhood and the LCDQ, I will be happy when our real lives resume.
